• Mr. Mathew McKee

My name is Mathew McKee, and I am the Principal at Joan Martin Elementary.  It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with you and your students, and I look forward to having a great school year with all of you!

Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself.  I am a Hobart resident, and a 2000 graduate of Hobart High School.  I received my BA in Education in 2004 from Purdue University and I have teaching endorsements in Social Studies, Language Arts, and Physical Education.  I later received my MA in Educational Leadership from Ball State in 2012.  From 2006-2014, I was a teacher at the East Chicago Urban Enterprise Academy, a K-8th Grade school.  In 2014, I had the opportunity to come work at the School City of Hobart as a 7th grade Language Arts teacher.  From 2015-2016 I worked at Hobart Middle School as the Dean of Students and Alternative Education Director.  From 2016-2017, I was the Assistant Principal at Joan Martin Elementary, and from 2017-2020, I was the Assistant Principal at Hobart Middle School.

My wife, Danielle, is a 4th grade teacher at Veterans Elementary, and my daughter attends Hobart schools as well.  We enjoy RV'ing as a family during the summer and in my free time I like hiking, excercising, reading, and cooking.
